🇨🇳China’s Xi pledges to lower tariffs, open market access l Al Jazeera English

China’s president has promised to cut import tariffs and allow greater market access to foreign companies.
Xi Jinping did not refer to China’s trade dispute with the United States, but he warned that free trade was under attack.
He made his remarks during the opening of a vast trade fair in Shanghai. The expo was scheduled long before the US began imposing tariffs, but Xi used it to position himself as the guardian of free trade.
Al Jazeera’s Adrian Brown reports.
