Xi Jinping did not refer to China’s trade dispute with the United States, but he warned that free trade was under attack.
He made his remarks during the opening of a vast trade fair in Shanghai. The expo was scheduled long before the US began imposing tariffs, but Xi used it to position himself as the guardian of free trade.
